After assembling that shelf from IKEA, why not treat yourself to a bottle of wine…
…And make use of your electric screwdriver tool to open a bottle of wine.
The Bosch IXO VINO is a cordless, lithium-ion battery powered, rechargeable screwdriver that comes as a special edition with a corkscrew attachment to open wine bottles… turning it into an electric wine bottle opener.
This is one of the more interesting attempts that I’ve seen to promote a tool outside of its usual market space. Using a screwdriver on a wine bottle is a clever idea. It is assuming, of course, that the type of person who would want to use their electric screwdriver on their wine doesn’t purchase screw top wine bottles in the first place. In other words, I’m not sure that this has much more than novelty value. Do you really want to pull it out at a nice dinner party and uncork a bottle of Lafite with this?
Nevertheless, even the most regal of households could use it for staff. Imagine having to uncork hundreds of bottles at an event. Same if you are a catering company. This thing could be a major timesaver.
I’m including it in the portable technologies section, because it comes in a wooden (presentation) carry box and might be useful on the road. For instance, if you own a boat and need a cordless screwdriver, this could serve multiple purposes and might come in handy.
They even made a compilation of fan movies for it (bizarre but true):
