Elegantly simple comes to mind. Also, there’s something almost Terry Gilliam’s “Brazil” about this highly-functional, yet ominous bellows with their undulating, accordion style. The filing system presents itself like a row of hungry mouths waiting to be fed.
3Rings Blog has a nice article about his “Self Discipline” installation at Design Week in Milan. They quote Zupanc as refering to his designs thus:
“a monastic asceticism… the installation of a chandelier, desk, and chair provokes the thoughts on today’s key values, needs, habits, and the minimalism of life choices we are able to choose from.”
The bellows theme pervades all the furniture. Minimalist, yes, but highly compartmentalised. Are we heading towards a collapsible lifestyle, where we open and close secret spaces like a magician?
