One and Only Resorts have been redefining affordable luxury travel (or unaffordable, as the case may be) for years now with destinations around the globe. The Palmilla in Cabo San Lucas offers a very pleasant, luxury resort opportunity Stateside that is a convenient getaway for anyone on the West Cost of the Americas.
It’s a large plot with plenty of seaside and ocean view suites. Be careful, though, ‘ocean view’ is used in a very liberal sense and some of the ocean view suites have a better view of trees and plant operations than the ocean itself. The ocean side casitas, however, are a good bet.
Decor is tasteful, if not entirely ‘Mexican’. There are a variety of the usual mod-cons with some pleasant surprises.
Pros: a personal butler with guest iPhone to make contact 24×7, complimentary water, food and beverage from any of the onsite dining establishments available as room service to your room (or poolside in some cases), comprehensive spa, and child friendly activities (child-only playhouse and a fabulous family pool).
Cons: exorbitant food and beverage prices beyond the norm, poor wifi reception on property even in the rooms, spotty room servicing (cleaning), warrior seagulls (that attack anything that resembles food), few seaside loaner toys, Cabo San Lucas (not as nice a place as this resort), and homogenous clientele (American).
